PM Dr Mahathir Meets UK-Based Investors, Fund Managers

LONDON, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad met key British investors and fund managers here on Sunday night to discuss Malaysia's economic and investment prospects. Among those who attended the meeting include representatives from Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, Shell, Jardine Matheson and Baring Asset Management. Dr Mahathir arrived in London on Saturday for the second leg of his working visit to the United Kingdom (UK) and will wrap up his trip on Monday after delivering a talk titled, “Future Democracy in Asia” at Chatham House and attend a briefing on police and public sector reforms in the UK. During his first UK visit from Sept 21-25, Dr Mahathir met Sir James Dyson, a billionaire British inventor of the bagless vacuum cleaner, who is reportedly keen to bring fresh investments into Malaysia. Dyson currently has a manufacturing plant and the Dyson Malaysia Development Centre in Johor. -- BERNAMA
