PM opens OTOP fair to promote Thai community products
BANGKOK, August 20 (TNA) - The government is organizing the "OTOP Midyear 2012" fair this week to internationally promote outstanding community-based Thai products under the officially-supported One-Tambon-One-Product (OTOP) campaign.
While opening the one-week fair Monday morning, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra insisted that her government supports business operators in developing Thai community-based products, urging people to also follow Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit’s arts and crafts support project to promote Thai traits worldwide.
The prime minister said that the Ministry of Commerce will try to have Thai OTOP products sold at local and overseas department stores to boost national income, and that her government will also develop a database on relevant research projects, financial sources and the development of product quality for local product developers.
The "OTOP Midyear 2012" fair is being held at the Impact Trade and Exhibition Centre, Challenger 2 Hall, in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok from August 20-26. The fair is opened from 10am to 9pm. (TNA)
