Power plant to be built in Gobi region

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A 600 megawatt coal-fired power plant is planned to be built next to Tevsh coal mine in Dundgovi province. The mine mouth plant in Saintsagaan soum of the province is expected to be the biggest energy producer in the country. The plant is to be erected under a funding of USD 35 million; however, the amount might slightly increase amid the construction, said contractor Mogul Power, a subsidiary of a US-based Mogul Energy International. The plant is expected to recover its construction costs in 15 years since becoming operational. Once the financing agreements with international investors are concluded, the construction will launch within this year.
