PR campaign for tourists' safety to cover all Thai provinces

BANGKOK, March 9 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports plans to expand its public relations (PR) campaign on useful information for the safety of international tourist arrivals in the country to cover all Thai provinces by 2018. Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports Pongpanu Svetarundra announced the plan in Bangkok on March 9 while presiding over a ceremony to launch the PR campaign for the seven consecutive year. Pongpanu said the PR campaign, which also includes channels for international tourists to file their complaints, has been launched in 10 Thai provinces where there are popular or significant tourist destinations and will be expanded to 46 provinces soon and all Thai provinces by the end of 2018. According to the senior official, the PR campaign, which is presented by a wellknown Thai actress, include manuals, video clips and LED screens produced in three languages, namely Thai, English and Mandarin. The senior official noted that the expanding PR campaign is aimed to cater for the growing Thai tourism, with the number of international tourist arrivals in the country during next month's Songkran Festival alone expected to increase by 10 per cent year-on-year and earning the Thai Kingdom about 50 billion baht tourism-related revenues. The senior official estimated that Thailand should earn at least three trillion baht from tourism-related revenues this year, from 2.76 trillion baht last year. (TNA)
