Qatar Airways Acquires 9.61 Pct Of Cathay Pacific

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) – Qatar Airways has entered into an agreement to purchase 378.188 million shares or 9.61 per cent of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. “Qatar Airways is very pleased to complete its financial investment in Cathay Pacific,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker in a statement Monday. Cathay Pacific is a fellow oneworld member. Completion of the transaction is expected to take place later today in Hong Kong. This investment further supported Qatar Airways’ investment strategy which already included a 20 per cent investment in International Airlines Group, 10 per cent in LATAM Airlines Group and 49 per cent in Meridiana. -- BERNAMA
