Qatar Central Bank Issues Treasury Bills worth QR 600 Million for Aug.

Doha, August 07 (QNA) - Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has issued treasury bills for August 2019 for three, six and nine months, with a value of QR 600 million. According to a statement issued on QCB's website, the treasury bills are distributed as follows: QR 300 million for three months at an interest rate of 1.98%, QR 200 million for six months at an interest rate of 2.09%, and QR 100 million for nine months at an interest rate of 2.11%. Qatar Central Bank's issuance of the treasury bills comes within the framework of its efforts to develop the monetary policy in the State of Qatar and increase its effectiveness and to strengthen the banking and financial system, as well as to activate the tools available for the open market operations as one of the monetary policy tools, and as an implementation of the mechanism of coordination between financial and monetary policies. The issuance is also part of a series of issues executed by Qatar Central Bank on behalf of the Government of the State of Qatar and in accordance with the schedule prepared by both Qatar Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance. Treasury bills are issued through auction for banks operating in Qatar. (QNA)
