Qatar Chamber Discusses Cooperation with Sri Lankan Trade Delegation
Doha, September 13 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber today held a meeting with a trade delegation from the Republic of Sri Lanka to Doha under the chairmanship of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Indrajit Coomaraswamy. The two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in all fields of trade and economy and reviewed investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka in the banking and financial sector.
First Deputy Chairman of Qatar Chamber Muhammed bin Ahmed bin Towar, said that the private sector in the two countries has distinguished trade relations with growth and development at all levels, noting that there are opportunities for further cooperation between the two sides in various sectors, especially as Qatari businessmen are keen to explore business opportunities in Sri Lanka.
For his part, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka called on to strengthen the good relations linking the banks in Sri Lanka and Qatar, in the interests of both parties and push for more cooperation in various economic fields. He also reviewed the investment opportunities, climate and commercial advantages available in his country, and the incentives provided by the Sri Lankan government to encourage foreign investment, and called for the establishment of a joint Sri Lankan Qatari Business Council to strengthen cooperation relations between private sector companies. Trade between Qatar and Sri Lanka reached $90 million last year. (QNA)
