Qatar Chamber Discusses Cooperation with Swiss Delegation

Doha, May 09 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber held a meeting Thursday with a trade delegation from Switzerland. The two sides discussed means of boosting trade relations and partnership between businessmen in the two countries in the fields of furniture, jewelry, banking, and financial services, information technology and the automotive industry.
Qatar Chamber First vice-chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar said that the private sector in the two countries has a fruitful cooperation relationship which has witnessed remarkable development over the last few years and reflected on the trade exchange between the two countries which amounted to USD 3.7 billion in, 28 percent increase year-on-year.
He pointed out that Switzerland, which is an important tourist destination for Qataris, is home to many Qatari investments, while the Qatari market has about nine companies with full Swiss ownership, as well as 51 joint Qatari-Swiss companies.
He expressed hope that the meeting will contribute to the exploitation of many opportunities for businessmen from both sides, and work to strengthen bilateral cooperation in many areas. He also called on the Qatari private sector to explore the trade and investment opportunities available in Switzerland, which is one of the most developed economies in the world.
Head of Swiss delegation Maya Maria Marburger said that Swiss investors are seeking to know the Qatari market, discuss the business opportunities available and enhance cooperation between Swiss and Qatari companies in several sectors. She called on Qatari business owners and Qatari companies to visit Switzerland and explore the investment opportunities available there.
Furthermore, she added that a Swiss trade delegation comprising a large group of business owners and representatives of Swiss companies specializing in different sectors will visit Doha in October to explore opportunities for cooperation with their Qatari counterparts in various fields. (QNA)
