Qatar Chamber Hosts Seminar on Investment Opportunities in ASEAN

Doha, March 27 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber (QC) today hosted an introductory seminar on investment and business opportunities in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). The seminar was attended by a number of Qatari businessmen and seven ambassadors of this economic bloc accredited to Qatar. The Ambassadors introduced the Qatari business community to a number of trade and investment opportunities in their countries, especially in real estate, oil and gas, energy, labor, construction, safety and security areas. At the beginning of the event, Qatar Chamber (QC) Vice-Chairman Muhammed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari said that Qatar attaches great importance to the ASEAN and seeks to strengthen cooperation and economic ties with them at all levels and in all sectors. He added that Qatar as the largest LNG producer in the world has great interest in strengthening ties with ASEAN, not only in the energy sector but in all economic sectors, especially as gas exported by Qatar to Asian countries accounted only for 50 per cent of its exports. This is expected to rise in the coming years in light of the growing demand on the part of ASEAN. The QC Vice-Chairman called on Qatari businessmen and their counterparts from the ASEAN to do their best to contribute to the development of friendship between the two sides in order to achieve prosperity and welfare of these peoples, noting to various opportunities for friendship, partnership and investment for both sides, especially in the private sector. Al Kuwari urged Asian companies to explore the Qatari market and establish effective partnerships with Qatari companies to find about opportunities and take advantage of the investment climate in the country.
