Qatar Chamber Organized 170 Economic Events in 2018, Chairman Says

Doha, May 12 (QNA) - HE Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani said last year, the chamber organized more than 170 events including conferences, symposiums and meetings as well as hosted almost 100 international business delegations, organized seven external visits for Qatari businessmen to various countries and issued 1,453 certificates of origin online and more than 35,000 certificates of origin the traditional way.
While chairing the Chamber's general assembly on Sunday, HE the Chairman said 2018 was an exceptional year in which the chamber and the private sector achieved successes at all levels and the State of Qatar was able to overcome the blockade and continued to grow economically. His Excellency said it became the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer and one of the largest exporters of investments, as well as many other achievements by the State at various levels and fields.
HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani said the achievements of the chamber come as part of its pioneering role in serving, representing and protecting the private sector. The chamber is currently working on adding new electronic services on its website to facilitate the clearance of transactions for members and save time and effort spent in those procedures. The chamber strengthened its efforts in training and developing human resources development, established its cooperation with a number of local training centers, organized 12 training programs last year, in addition to a number of arbitration courses organized by the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration.
HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani expressed hope that 2019 witnesses’ further successes and effective participation from all members of the private sector in the State, reiterating the chamber's preparedness to receive any proposals or views that would enhance its efforts and achieve all that business owners and members believe may add to the private sector and the economy of the State.
