Qatar Chamber Stresses All Economic Sectors' Support for the Wise Leadership

Doha, June 10 (QNA) - The Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) has affirmed support of all sectors of the economy and businessmen for the wise leadership. During an emergency meeting held by QCCI's Board of Directors under the chairmanship of HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors and in the presence of all Board Members, QCCI expressed confidence that the wise leadership thanks to its wisdom is able to overcome the situation and reveal all the plans, stressing that the Qatari economy is able to overcome this siege. Such a boycott will not undermine the will of the Qatari people and does not affect his life and livelihood, QCCI said, adding that it proceeds with determination to provide goods whether foodstuffs, building materials or basic materials for all citizens and residents. A statement issued by Qatar Chamber on Saturday stated that the Board of Directors held its emergency meeting to discuss the repercussions of the boycott decision by some GCC countries. QCCI Board of Directors expressed its deep regret for the decision of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain to sever diplomatic relations with Qatar and close the land, sea and air borders, it added. It commended the position of Qatari businessmen, who Shoulder the responsibility, while affirming that the Qatari business community has taken all necessary measures to overcome this siege, referring in this regard to the various measures it took to ensure the flow of goods in a smooth manner. QCCI Board of Directors approved the formation of a coordinating committee comprising a number of its members to identify all the obstacles facing businessmen and traders during the process of importing goods from overseas. The Committee will be a link between businessmen and the competent committee in the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in order to resolve any obstacles in the process of importing goods of all kinds. Members of the Qatar Development Bank are among members of the Committee's, which aims to receive the comments and complaints of businessmen and traders and submit them to the competent committee at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce. The Coordination Committee meets continuously and follows up complaints with the concerned authorities in order to ensure the smooth flow of goods into the Qatari market without any obstacles. A source in Qatar Chamber said that the chamber will hold an expanded meeting on Sunday, which will bring together all food importing companies, the emergency committee along with a number of concerned bodies such as Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani) and Qatar Airways. The meeting will discuss all obstacles facing these companies and solve them, he added. The Qatar Chamber will also hold a meeting tomorrow for the importing companies of primary materials in the presence of Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) and companies that import a wide range of building materials such as Al Jabor Group in order to get acquainted with the process of importing these goods, the problems and challenges import companies might face and how to solve them.
