Qatar Primary Materials Company to Launch Cement Silo Plant in Q1 of 2017
Doha, January 11 (QNA) - Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) Eng. Eisa Al Hammadi revealed that the company is planning to start operating the cement silo plant in the first quarter of 2017 at a total cost of QR 445.
Speaking during a press conference about the company's 2016 achievements, Al Hammadi said the plant, which is based in Mesaieed Port, comprises two cranes, two conveyors, 12 concrete silos with a storage capacity of 5,000 tons per silo with a total capacity of 60,000 tons.
He added that the project aims to fill the gap in supply and ensure the availability of cement and other cement materials in a sustainable manner for current and future projects as well as support the private sector and the 2022 World Cup projects, and activate the Qatar National Vision 2030 while maintaining stability of cement prices.
He noted that 2016 was a milestone for the company as it started the operation of conveyors at Mesaieed Port on December 8, a step that, he said, placed Qatar on the map of countries with the best economic policies in the world and the region as it ensures a sustainable strategic reserve of high-quality primary materials.
The project, which cost QR 1.6 billion, helps in transferring high-quality primary materials from docking platforms to storage areas, which facilitates the process of unloading cargo in a safe and fast fashion.
Established in 2006 on the instruction of the Qatari government, QPMC aims to ensure the supply of building materials in the local market. It provides complete solutions for the transport, storage and delivery of key primary materials in Qatar. (QNA)
