Qatargas Signs New Agreement with Turkey's BOTAS

Doha, September 20 (QNA) - Qatargas has announced the signing of a medium-term sale and purchase agreement with Turkey's state pipeline company, BOTAS. In accordance with the terms of this agreement, Qatargas will supply 1.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year for three years to BOTAS, according to a statement released by Qatargas on Wednesday. President and Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Petroleum and Chairman of the Qatargas Board of Directors Eng. Saad bin Sharida Al Kaabi expressed his pleasure to sign this agreement with BOTAS, which he considered would contribute to strengthening the company's relationship with its partners in the Turkish Republic. He said that with the continued growth of the LNG market and its development, Qatar accomplished new achievements, adding "This deal reflects the deep confidence of our customers around the world in our capabilities as a reliable supplier of LNG to satisfy their requirements." For his part, HE Chief Executive Officer in Qartargas Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Thani said that Qatargas is delighted to announce this deal with BOTAS which is a valued customer with deep expertise in the LNG industry. He explained that the Qatargas trade relationship with BOTAS has evolved from supplying spot cargoes to the current medium term deal, looking forward to consolidating and strengthening the company's relations through the supply of clean energy in the coming years. Commencing on 1 October 2017, this agreement provides for the supply of LNG from Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (2) ("Qatargas 2"), the world's first fully integrated value chain LNG venture. The LNG will be delivered onboard Q-Flex vessels to either the Egegaz LNG Terminal, the Marmara LNG Terminal, or to the Etki LNG terminal in the Republic of Turkey. Founded in 1984, Qatargas is the first company operating in the LNG industry in Qatar. Today it is the world's largest LNG producing company with a production capacity of 42 million tons per annum through its facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. Qatargas succeeded in supplying liquefied natural gas to 28 countries around the world, after its first LNG production in 1996 committed to meeting the global demand for clean energy safely and efficiently.
