Qatari-Malaysian Economic Forum to Kick Off in Kuala Lumpur Tomorrow
Doha, October 15 (QNA) - In the framework of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's visit to the Kingdom of Malaysia, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in cooperation with the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry, will organize the Qatari-Malaysian Economic Forum in the capital Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
The Ministry said in a statement Sunday that the Forum will be an interactive platform for senior officials, investors and economists from both countries to explore investment opportunities in various sectors, especially trade, agriculture, tourism, services, and other economic sectors.
The Forum aims to promote and expand trade and economic relations between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Malaysia, provide an opportunity for communication between businessmen, promote cooperation between the private sectors in both countries, and explore joint investment projects that serve the interests of both countries.
The Ministry said that the Qatar-Malaysian Economic Forum will establish for a deeper economic, investment and trade cooperation between the two countries, noting that Malaysia is Qatar's 20th trading partner with a total trade exchange of QR 3.3 billion in 2016, equivalent to 2.85% of Qatar's total trade.
The Forum is expected to contribute to the signing of new agreements and memorandums of understanding that will strengthen the bilateral cooperation and contribute to the creation of new innovative investment fields.
The Ministry underlined that the economic Forum is one of the most important initiatives aimed at highlighting the advantages of the Qatari economy and business environment, which will contribute to attract foreign direct investment.
During the Forum, the Ministry will discuss the advantages of investing in Qatar and how the Malaysian private sector will benefit from the investment incentives which the State provides to foreign investors. The Ministry will also discuss ways to build long-term economic cooperation mechanisms between Qatari and Malaysian companies in order to take advantage of the successes achieved by Malaysia's economic experience.
