Qatari Trade Delegation Signs Several Agreements with Omani Companies
Doha, June 21 (QNA) - A trade delegation from Qatar Chamber has signed several agreements and deals with Omani companies for the supply of Omani goods and products to the Qatari market, during the delegation's recent visit to Muscat.
Qatar Chamber said in a press release on Wednesday that the visit to the Muscat witnessed bilateral meetings between Qatari businessmen and Omani counterparts, focusing on exporting Omani products, mainly foodstuffs, luxuries and building materials, to the State of Qatar.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Omani side organized an exhibition for their industries, in addition to side meetings between representatives of Omani companies and Qatari businessmen. About 135 Omani companies highlighted their readiness to supply their products to the Qatari market.
The visit of the Qatari delegation, which included 140 businessmen organized by Qatar Chamber, achieved great success as hundreds of bilateral meetings were held between Qatari and Omani businessmen during whom the Qatari side was briefed on the Omani products qualified enter the Qatari market.
Over the few coming days, Omani products will be seen in the Qatari market supported by the launch of two direct shipping routes between Hamad Port and the Omani ports of Sohar and Salalah which would contribute to enhancing the movement of trade between the two countries.
Qatar Chambers Vice Chairman Mohammed bin Twar Al Kuwari said that that Qatari businessmen were very interested to visit the Sultanate of Oman to review ways to strengthen relations with their Omani counterparts, assuring their desire to deepen cooperation in investment and business fields.
Addressing the forum, he underlined that Qatar and Oman enjoy distinct and developing relations, noting that both parties are exerting great efforts to strengthen their relations in all sectors, and that there are lots of mutual investments in both brotherly countries.
He expressed the hope for both sides to increase their partnerships in the sectors of trade, industry, and transport and food security.
He added that the circumstances are now appropriate for the private sector in Qatar and Oman to work on economic integration, noting that the Sultanate of Oman has important ports on the Arabian Sea, and in cooperation with Hamad Port in the Gulf the two sides can achieve economic integration that will enhance trade between the two countries and between them and the world.
According to official statistics, the total Qatari investments in Oman reached up to 76.5 million Omani Riyal (QR 727 million) in 2015.
Meanwhile, trade volume between the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman touched QR 2.8 billion in 2014 and increased to 3 billion in 2015. (QNA)
