Qatar's Finance Ministry Organizes Women in Power Discussion, Lead by IMF Director

Doha, February 14 (QNA) - Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde presided a panel discussion on women in power, under the sponsorship and organized by the Ministry of Finance. The discussion took place on the sidelines of her two-day visit to Doha. Lagarde said the IMF believes that equality between men and women is important for the well-being of the community's economy. She added that enabling women is essential for change in all countries as it encourages larger number in the workforce. Lagarde added, equal opportunity between men and women is able to promote growth and encourage diversified economy. She confirmed that Qatar registered development in boosting social inclusion of women in the public sector and the private sector. A high-level panel from government and private sector entities participated in the discussion session, where they spoke about women's leading role in ensuring long-term development. (QNA)
