Qatar's Minister of Energy and Industry Inaugurates Third Made in China Exhibition
Doha, November 16 (QNA) - Under the auspices of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada inaugurated Thursday the third edition of the Made in China exhibition, which is organized by Qatar Chamber and sees more than 80 Chinese companies from different sectors participating. The four-day exhibition is taking place Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry said today during a tour of the exhibition that the third edition of the exhibition is seeing more companies and a bigger variety, which reflects the advancement of ties between Qatar and China in many fields. His Excellency expressed his appreciation to the role of similar exhibitions in enhancing bilateral trade and economic ties. His Excellency added that the current edition showcased China's latest in terms of construction equipment and technological capabilities demanded by the Qatari market, particularly in light of the renaissance Qatar is seeing and the continuation of a wide variety of construction projects. His Excellency also said that the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center has become the home of many international exhibitions, continuing the Qatar's tradition of being an attractive location for global companies and activities in the industrial as well as in other sectors.
For his part, Chairman of Qatar Chamber HE Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Bin Mohammed Al-Thani said that the participation of more than 80 Chinese companies reflects their confidence in the Qatari market despite the unfair siege the State of Qatar is being subjected to at the hands of neighboring GCC countries. His Excellency added that the exhibition provides Qatari companies with the opportunity of seeing firsthand the latest innovations and technologies in China, which can help give the technical help to establishing new industries in Qatar.
His Excellency added that the exhibition could be an opportunity for companies from both countries to form alliances that enhance the role of the Qatari private sector, adding that the previous two editions of the exhibition were very successful and saw many alliances formed that eventually benefited the Qatari economy.
For his part, HE the Ambassador of The People's Republic of China in Doha Li Chen said that the State of Qatar was developing rapidly in all fields, and that economic cooperation between Qatar and China have seen a marked pick up in the previous period. The last few months have recorded a significant increase in trading volume, reaching 30 percent compared to previous levels. Trade volumes in the first nine months of 2017 surpassed the $5 billion mark. He added that China welcomes Qatari businessmen to invest in its market, expressing hope that the exhibition will yield partnerships and agreements that advances the interests of both sides.
Meanwhile Director-General of Qatar Chamber Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi highlighted the high attendance level, especially from business people who were looking to take advantage of China's expertise in the industrial sector by signing trade agreement. He said that the event is expected to witness the signing of a number of agreements in the coming days. He stressed that Chinese industrial companies are looking to market their products in the Qatari market. (QNA)
