QDB Participates in Anuga Trade Fair in Germany
Doha, October 11 (QNA) - Qatar Development Bank (QDB), through the support of its specialist export wing, Tasdeer, participated at Anuga trade fair in Cologne, Germany, one of the world's leading exhibitions for retailers in the food and beverage industry, with more than 7,400 exhibitors from 107 countries.
This year, the Qatari companies participating at Anuga 2017 displayed a wide variety of their best products, including dairy items, dates, flour-based items, bakery goods, confectionary products, seafood, poultry, processed foods as well as natural juices. This comes within QDB's sought to promote Brand Qatar across new regional and international markets alike.
Speaking during the 5-day exhibition, Executive Director of Export Development and Promotion Agency, Tasdeer, Hassan Khalifa Al Mansoori said: "Qatar Development Bank regularly spearheads the promotion of Qatari products and exporters in international exhibitions with the aim of opening new markets for the nation. During the past year, Qatari export products have increasingly found home in Europe's marketplaces, having participated in a series of exhibitions. Similarly, our participation in Anuga 2017 exhibition aims to further strengthen the commercial trade relations between Qatar and Germany."
"Given the evolving trade climate in the region, many local companies are increasingly appreciating the importance of change management. To this end, QDB lends assistance to these organizations by directing them to new marketing windows as well as helping them find alternative markets to export their products.
"Today, thanks to the opening of a new major seaport in Qatar, the Hamad Port, we are in an improved geostrategic position to charter new trading routes and strengthen trade relations with distant markets like Germany.
"And after tremendous successes in our local market, we firmly believe it is time for our local companies to proceed towards new horizons and expand into the regional and international market, as envisioned in Qatar National Vision 2030," Al Mansoori added.
Anuga 2017 is an international platform linking the world's food industry service providers and buyers, effectively connecting professionals from across the global agri-food industry.
The recently concluded participation in Cologne comes as the latest in a series of events in which Tasdeer has promoted local food and beverage retailers. For instance, in October 2016, QDB partook in SIAL exhibition in Paris, and more recently, in March 2017, it partook in Gulfood and Agriteq expos.
Notably, last year, the specialist export wing, Tasdeer, held up deals worth QR 720 million and enabled 40 new exporters to enter the market. It partook in 3 international bilateral meetings along with 41 local companies as well as participated with 76 local exporters in six different export trade exhibitions, where 117 different exports were promoted.
Tasdeer offers different services to Qatari exporters, including export financing and insurance coverage for the Qatari exporter against the risk of a loss of funds inherent in the global export trade, in addition to providing appropriate advice to exporting companies and assisting the export sector in order to enhance their efficiency through promotion and export development. It also offers various financial and banking solutions that will facilitate business processes smoothly and safely without risk of non-payment. (QNA)
