QFMA Celebrates Global Money Week

Doha, April 02 (QNA) - Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) celebrated Global Money Week, which was kicked off under the theme "Learn.Save.Earn," by organizing a number of activities and awareness programs aimed at spreading knowledge and financial and economic culture among children and youth.
QFMA participation in the Global Money Week with other institutions around the world aims to raise the financial awareness, livelihoods and entrepreneurship of millions of children and young people.
This is the second participation of QFMA in the Global Money Week, and the scheduled activities targeted primary school students and university students.
The Qatar National Vision 2030, the Second Strategic Plan for the Financial Sector and Qatar Financial Markets Authority were also highlighted, focusing on the role of the Authority as a supervisory and regulatory, as well as presenting the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
According to the Child And Youth Finance International, the number of children and youth who benefited from the Global Money Week in 2018 reached 7.4 million children through more than 199,000 activities, with 13,400 organizations representing 151 countries.
Since the launching of the Global Money Week for the first time in 2012, there has been a gradual increase in the volume of interaction with its activities and programs and the number of participating countries. In 2012 the event witnessed the participation of 21 countries, and rose to 80 countries in 2013, then to 118 countries in 2014, 124 countries in 2015. The number continued to rise to reach 132 in 2016, rising to 137 in 2017 and reaching 151 in 2018.
It is worth noting that the events of the Global Money Week were launched on Monday, 25 March, which lasted until the end of the month. This week is organized annually by the Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI)and it was launched globally in 2012. (QNA)
