QP Highlights Operations at 2011 IPTC
Bangkok, February 07 (QNA) - The 2011 International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) officially opened at the Bangkok Convention Center today, with Qatar Petroleum (QP) among the global industry leaders taking part in the event.
The 2011 IPTC was inaugurated by Arak Chonlatanon, Minister of Energy of Thailand. Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, Deputy Chairman of Qatar Petroluim (QP) Board of Directors and Managing Director of RasGas Company Limited (RasGas), welcomed the Thai minister at the QP stand and presented him with a gift Chonlatanon was accompanied by other ministers, including Dr. Mohammed Bin Hamad Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Oil & Gas of Oman, and Mohamed Bin Dhaen Al-Hamli, Minister of Energy of the United Arab Emirates.
Also among the QP delegation in Thailand were Nasser Khalil Ibrahim Al-Jaidah, a member of the QP Board of Directors and CEO of Qatar Petroleum International; Mohammed Jassim Al-Baker, Director Mesaieed; and many other senior officials from QP, RasGas, Qatargas and Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO).
Held with the theme "Technology and Operational Excellence: Keys to a Sustainable Global Energy," the 2011 IPTC has attracted the participation of over 3,000 delegates from all over the world. Over 350 papers will be presented in 60 technical sessions over the course of the three-day event.
Al-Jaidah, who is also a member of the IPTC Board of Directors, was the co-chairman of today s executive plenary session, together with Mr. Anon Sirisaengtaksin, President and CEO of PTT Exploration & Production Plc (PTTEP), which is the event s host sponsor.
On Wednesday, Qatargas will be represented at a technical session focusing on "LNG Prospects and Technologies," while RasGas will be featured in a poster session entitled "RasGas Rigless Drift Experience: New Technology and Evolving Best Practice -- North Field, Qatar." In addition to Khalid Mohammed Hamed Al-Hitmi, Manager for Gas Development at QP, will be a speaker in the IPTC s Young Professionals Workshop.
The 2011 IPTC exhibition covers a total area of over 2,600 square meters, and QP is among the 60 international companies exhibiting at the event. The QP stand, which measures 144 square meters and is one of the biggest in the exhibition hall, showcases the operations of Mesaieed Industrial City, Ras Laffan Industrial City, RasGas, Qatargas, and QAPCO.
The 2011 IPTC will conclude on Thursday, and the 2012 edition of the event will subsequently be held on December 5-7 at the China World Exhibition Hall in Beijing. QP has already confirmed its participation at the 2012 IPTC, and the event is scheduled to be held again in Doha in 2013.(QNA)
