Ranong to become transport hub in Thai South

RAYONG, Thailand, October 25 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Interior, plans to develop Ranong province in the Thai South to become a regional transport hub in the Andaman coast. Thai Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan told reporters of the plan on Friday when he visited the Ranong deep-seaport. Charupong noted that the Ranong deep-seaport can efficiently facilitate cargo transport through the Andaman Sea to other countries and can connect to the planned Dawei deep-seaport in neighbouring Myanmar in the future. According to the interior minister, he will soon propose the development plan of the Ranong deep-seaport to the government. Meanwhile, Nit Ouitekkeng, Chairman of Ranong's Tourism Council, pointed out that his province's deep-seaport development plan will considerably boost local trade, tourism, industries and other businesses.
