RasGas Delivers KOGAS 8 Million Tonnes of LNG in 2011
Doha, February 09 (QNA) - HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada who is also Board Chairman of RasGas has said that last year,2011, RasGas delivered over 8 million tonnes of LNG to KOGAS which is about a quarter of its total requirements.
HE Dr. Al Sada said in an address on the sidelines of th signing ceremony of signing ceremony for a new Long Term LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement between Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited (3) and Korea Gas Corporation, that RasGas looks forward to delivering over 9 million tonness of LNG to Korea in 2012.
Commenting on the occasion, HE Dr. Al Sada said: "This latest agreement is a perfect example of how Qatari LNG producing ventures continue to respond to our customer s needs through the capabilities and flexibility they have. RasGas is the largest single supplier of LNG to KOGAS and in 2011 delivered approximately 8 million tonnes of LNG in a safe and reliable manner."
The State of Qatar and the Republic of Korea have enjoyed exceptional, long standing bilateral relations and excellent cooperation has been established in all fields between Qatari and Korean companies.
'' We attach great importance to reinforcing these relationships and look forward to developing further the cooperation and collaboration between our governments in all fields'', the minister said.
KOGAS is the foundation customer of LNG from RasGas and with this new and additional long term sale and purchase agreement will again be the largest single purchaser of RasGas LNG.
In addition to the connect with Qatar through our LNG agreements, in 2010 the State of Qatar, through Nakilat and its LNG Joint Ventures took delivery of the last of 54 LNG tankers and 4 LPG ships built by South Korea shipyards valued at over 13.5 billion US dollars.
More recently Hyundai Heavy Industries was awarded the Barzan Gas Project lump sum EPC which is currently the largest gas project in the region.
Qatar s and RasGas relationship with Republic of Korea and KOGAS is one that continues to flourish and one that we are very proud of, the minister concluded.(QNA)
