Ringgit Ends Higher Against US Dollar

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 (Bernama) -- The ringgit closed higher against the US dollar Monday dampened by the bearish sentiment towards US economy, dealers said. At 6 pm, the ringgit was quoted at 4.1510/1560 against the greenback from 4.1535/1585 on Friday. A dealer said sentiment towards the US economy was subdued following the release of the US non-farm payrolls data last Friday, showing employment growth eased for the third straight month in September, while the jobless rate rose. However, against other major currencies, the ringgit was mostly lower. It appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.0209/0258 from Friday's 3.0214/0252 but eased versus the yen to 4.0215/0267 from 3.9999/9066 last week. The local note declined against the British pound to 5.1535/1613 from 5.1142/1220 last Friday and depreciated against the euro to 4.6358/6418 from 4.6199/6267 previously. -- BERNAMA
