Russia’s Sollers demonstrates over 20% decrease in car sales in January-April 2014

MOSCOW, May 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s automotive group Sollers, which sells such car brands as UAZ, SsangYong and ISUZU, demonstrated a 20.3 percent decrease in car sales in January-April 2014 to 22,580 cars, the company’s press service told Itar-Tass.
Car sales in April 2014 dropped by 16.3 percent on the same period 2013 and stood at 6,829 cars.
Sales of UAZ cars in the first four months of 2014 went down by 23.6 percent to 14,227. In April, UAZ car sales dropped by 20.6 percent to 4,598 cars.
Sales of SsangYong cars demonstrated a 18 percent decrease in January-April 2014 to 7,739 cars. In April, Sollers sold 2,006 SsangYong cars (down by 13 percent).
In the four months of 2014, Sollers sold 614 Isuzu cars, demonstrating a 2.2-times growth on the same period 2013 (282 cars). In April, the group sold 225 such cars (3.60times growth).
The Sollers group incorporates Sollers-Naberezhnye Chelny, Ukyanovsk Atomotive Plant, Zavolzhsky Motor Plant and Sollers-Far East. The range of models manufactured by Sollers includes UAZ, Isuzu, SsangYong. In the autumn of 2011, Sollers launched a joint venture with Ford, USA. Sollers’ principal shareholder is its director general, Vadim Shetsov. The company’s shares are floated on the Moscow Stock Exchange. In 2013, Sollers sales dropped by three percent to 97,394 cars. Sales of cars and LCV in Russia dropped by two percent in the first quarter of 2014 to 616,965 cars.
