Russian executives to visit Thailand
BANGKOK, Feb 3 (TNA) -- Senior Russian business executives from about 20 firms will pay a four-day visit Thailand later this month to explore ways to enlarge economic and trade cooperation with Thai counterparts, said Commerce Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong.
Mr Sontirat said Friday after holding a meeting with Russian ambassador to Thailand Kirill Barsky that the Russian executives, to be led by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Alezdev Gruzdev will visit Thailand between February 20-23.
The Russian executives are also keen to invest in the Thai government-sponsored Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), he said.
They are enthusiastic to invest in several fields such as innovative technology, nuclear energy, natural oil and gas, vehicles, biotechnology, and communication technology, said Mr Sontirat.
Details on the significant issues to be discussed during the visit are being worked out, he said.
Russia and Thailand celebrated their 120th diplomatic relations in 2017 and, presently, Russian ranks 29th Thailand’s major trading partners globally.
Combined trade has increased sharply and last year trade totaled 3.13 billon US dollars, up approximately 61 per cent from the previous year. (TNA)
