MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Russian company Atomstroyexport, which is a subsidiary of the state atomic energy corporation Rosatom, and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) on Wednesday signed a joint statement on the final acceptance of power-generating unit No. 1 at Kudankulam, Rosatom said.
The warranty period of operation showed reliable and safe functioning of the N-plant and subsequent production operations there will be the subject of full responsibility of the NPCIL, it said.
"By signing this document, the Russian and Indian sides confirmed accomplishment of all the warranty terms and obligations of the contractor (Atomstroyexport) under the agreements on construction of power unit No. 1 at the Kudankulam plant," the report said.
At the end of March, the sides signed a joint protocol on preliminary acceptance of power-generating No. 2 of the same plant.
The Kudankulam nuclear plant in India is built in the format of the November 20, 1988 Soviet-Indian agreement and the June 21, 1998, Russian-Indian supplement to it. Atomstroyexport is the general contractor in what concerns full-scale engineering, equipment supplies and technical support, while the company Atomenergoproekt, also a Rosatom subsidiary is the general design contractor.
