SAE's Second Hangar to Boost MRO Capacity for Airbus Aircraft

SEPANG, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Sepang Aircraft Engineering Sdn Bhd (SAE) has opened its second hangar to boost the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centre's capacity to handle the Airbus A320 family. The second hangar features Malaysia's first eco-friendly closed-door dedicated paint bay, as well as state-of-the-art workshops for the repair and overhaul of a wide range of components used on Airbus aircraft, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Airbus, in a statement Thursday, said the hangar has a floor area of 12,000 square metres and could accommodate two A320 aircraft for major maintenance check. Second International Trade and Industry Minister Ong Ka Chuan said SAE has grown steadily since its establishment in 2007 to support both local and international customers for maintenance of Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. "The potential of MRO business is huge and growing. It is an important catalyst in Malaysia's development towards becoming a high-income nation. "The aspiration is to capture five percent of global MRO market share business," he added. Airbus said SAE's first hangar, which opened in 2007, has a floor area of 37,000 square metres and could accommodate up to six single-aisle aircraft or two wide-body aircraft at any one time. -- BERNAMA
