Second Business Continuity and Resilience Conference to Begin in November
Doha, October 07 (QNA) - The 2nd Business Continuity and Resilience Conference begins in Doha on November 20 under the theme "Towards a Reliable Economy.'
The focus of the conference will be on integrating best practices in business continuity, and the opportunity to benefit all participants, as well as the role the resilience of the business environment plays in inspiring confidence among the business community.
The forum will be held under the patronage of HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, organized by Silah for Marketing and Exhibition with Qatari Businessmen Association as the Strategic Partner and Business Continuity Institute in UK and BCI Qatar Forum as the Professional Development Partners, after the success of the first Conference "Business Continuity ... stability and achievements" which was held in December 2017.
The Chairman of Qatar Business Continuity Forum and Conference President Eng. Abdullatif Ali Al Yafei stressed today that risk Management, Business Continuity and Flexibility has gained momentum recently in Qatar after it helped the country overcome the unjust blockade. He added that the fields were also gaining recognition internationally for promoting the adoption business continuity and flexibility tools to meet corporate standards and capabilities, and to avoid disasters and crises of any kind.
He said that the second edition will focus on providing a platform for communication between participants and addressing the most important issues that are currently imposing themselves, and their relation to raising confidence in the ability of the Qatari economy to prosper and grow in line with the vision of Qatar 2030.
More than 15 presentations will be made during the one-day conference, with discussions by experts and professionals from the private and public sectors. There will be four main topics discussed in the one day event. The first is on supporting business continuity, disaster recovery and crisis management. The second is on Cyber-security supply chain and the supply chain. The third is on building cities and communities, and the role they play in crisis times. The fourth and final topic will be reviewing the best practices in the field of improving business resilience.
The conference will present annual awards to distinguished individuals and companies in the BCR field in order to stimulate institutional and individual excellence. This year's conference will present five awards following a transparent criteria and a clear mechanism for selecting the best applicants.
The BCI in the UK will then evaluate nominations based on integrity and transparency standards through a committee of international BCR experts that is affiliated with the Institute in the United Kingdom. Applications will be accepted starting from end of July 2018, for five awards this year, which are, Continuity and Resilience Professional (Private Sector), Continuity and Resilience Professional (Public Sector), Continuity and Resilience Newcomer, Continuity and Resilience Provider (Service / Product), and Most Effective Recovery.
