Selected Thai SMEs will upgrade themselves in China

Bangkok, April 27 (TNA) -The Industry Ministry will bring some small and medium-sized enterprises to trade fairs in China from May to July to let them develop their businesses. Industry Minister Atchaka Sibunruang said 15-20 Thai SMEs would be selected to show their products and services in trade fairs in Fuzhou, Qinghai and Lanzhou during the period. She said they will receive advice and financial support for their booths. The exhibition plan will expand to other countries, especially those in ASEAN that are demanding standard consumer products. The industry minister also said that 7,000 SMEs were already selected for a rehabilitation program and special economic zones would be introduced in the three eastern provinces of Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao. Ms Atchaka said relevant authorities intended to woo leading international universities to open branches and also to promote aircraft and some high-technology industries there. Investors would enjoy promotional privileges including relaxed rules on foreigners' shareholdings and foreign currency deposit accounts. She added that authorities planned to develop industrial estates for operators of particular nations such as China and South Korea because they would like to gather in the same zones. (TNA)
