Shahid Rajaee, Belgium Antwerp ports to implement sisterhood MoU

Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan prov, Dec 12, IRNA – About 5 months after signing a sisterhood MoU between Iran's Shahid Rajaie and Belgium's Antwerp ports, a Belgian delegation met the managing director of Hormuzgan ports to make the MoU operational. According to Public Relations Department of Hormuzgan Ports and Maritime Organization, the Belgian delegation, in a meeting with Allah Morad Afifipour, negotiated on implementing the sisterhood memorandum of understanding and got familiar with the latest conditions of Shahid Rajaee port development. During the meeting, a draft of an operational program was prepared on analyzing market and both ports' activities, the operation volume now and in future, training and human resources development, managers' education system, investment grounds for the private sector and developing port and maritime activities, exchanging operational and management experiences, launching smart port and creating administrative and seminar work groups. The sisterhood MoU between Shahid Rajaee port and Antwerp Port of Belgium was sealed on July 11 in Ports and Maritime Organization. Antwerp port as a gate leading to Europe operating 8.5 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) ranks 3rd in Europe and 16th in the world. Shahid Rajaee port having some 18 gantry cranes and 40 berths is the biggest and the most modernized container port in Iran. 1378/IRNA
