Shilla Duty Free sets up presence in Asia top 3 airports

SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Yonhap) -- Shilla Duty Free said Sunday that it will have cosmetics and perfume operations at all passenger terminals in Asia's three largest airports with the opening of its second store at Incheon International Airport (IIA). One of South Korea's leading duty free operator said with the opening of its outlet at the IIA's second passenger terminal on Thursday, it will have shops at all four terminals in Singapore Changi Airport and at Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong. The company already operates a store at the Incheon's first terminal that opened in 2001. Cosmetics and perfume are considered key duty free items as they generate the strong revenue. In the case of IIA's duty free shops cosmetics and perfume account for 38 percent of all sales. Shilla Duty Free, which is part of Hotel Shilla, said it expects overseas operations to soon exceed 1 trillion won (US$939 million) mark. In regards to its new IIA store, the company said it analyzed passenger traffic movement data and waiting times and made the store future oriented and customer friendly. The store covers 2,100 square meters and will offer products from 110 brands such as Estee Lauder, Dior, Lancome, Chanel, SK-II and Sulwhasoo. The store will, moreover feature a "digital beauty bar" that makes use of LEDs and information and communication technology and a "beauty mirror" that uses virtual reality technology. (END)
