Shurooq to unveil details of Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-Tourism project

SHARJAH, 24th January, 2016 (WAM) -- In the presence of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) will organise a press conference next Sunday at Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort and Spa to unveil the details of Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-Tourism project.
The project, developed by (Shurooq) in collaboration with the Department Of Planning and Survey, Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority and the Directorate of Antiquities at the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information, aims to create a new tourist attraction for nature and archaeology enthusiasts.
Speakers during the press conference will include Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Eng. Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi, Head of the Department of Planning and Survey, Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and Dr Sabah Jassim, Head of the Local Archaeological Team.
The Mleiha project is implemented in line with the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to develop tourism projects and provide various tourist and leisure assets in the emirate in accordance with global environmental standards.
The project will contribute in strengthening the emirate's tourist, environmental and economic status, and would highlight Mleiha's history and its ecological diversity and historical significance.
Located 50km east of Sharjah city, Mleiha is of great historical importance as it dates back to 100,000 -year-old civilisation.
