Significant rise in Turkey's raw steel production

ANKARA (A.A) - 15.04.2011 - Turkey's raw steel production amounted to 7.9 million tonnes in the first quarter of the year.
Turkey's Iron and Steel Producers' Association said Friday raw steel production increased 24.9 percent in March over the same period of last year and amounted to 2.7 million tonnes.
Turkey increased its raw steel production 31 percent in the first quarter of 2011 and amounted to 7.9 million tone.
According to the data of World Steel Association, Turkey ranked 10th in the world in raw steel production in 2010.
China topped the list of producers with 626.8 million tonnes. Japan and the US followed by 109.6 million, 80.6 million tonnes respectively. Russia and India produced 66.8 million tonnes.
