"SIMA ASEAN Thailand 2018" held in Thailand June 6-8

BANGKOK, June 6 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and the France-based Axema, a trade association of the agricultural equipment industry, are jointly organizing the "SIMA ASEAN Thailand 2018", a Southeast Asian agri-business show, at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center (IMPACT) in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok during June 6-8, aimed to provide a platform for Thai agriculturists to learn on innovations beneficial to the development of their own farmlands or farming businesses. Thira Wongcharoen, an advisor to the vice minister for agriculture and cooperatives, presided over a ceremony to inaugurate the three-day event on Wednesday. Thira said that his ministry pays attention to the further development of the Thai farm sector through promoting and supporting local agriculturists to adopt innovative technologies for their production processes and market networking, paving the way for them to become potential startups or small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the domestic farm sector in the future. "The policy is aimed to build up the capacity and sustain the Thai agricultural sector and to develop the Thai farm sector to meet international standards based, basically, on the Sufficiency Economy Principle advised by late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej", the advisor explained. According to the vice minister, international participants and visitors also have a good opportunity, during the three-day event, to learn on the royally-introduced Sufficiency Economy Principle. The three-day event is divided into the exhibition stage on the development of the Thai agriculture based on the Sufficiency Economy Principle through the "Khok Nong Na" model, the seminar stage on the Sufficiency Economy Principle and farm innovations, set on June 7-8, and a farm trade fair in which selected agricultural products of local farmers, agricultural cooperatives and SMEs from across the country are on display and sale to international visitors.
