Suvarnabhumi Airport wins top prize for outstanding services for Muslim travelers

Singapore-based Concentrating Institute has awarded Thailand’s main Suvarnabhumi International Airport the top prize for outstanding services offered to Muslim travelers in 2012. Director of the Airports of Thailand Public Co., Ltd. (AOT) Somchai Sawasdipol announced Wednesday that Thailand’s main Suvarnabhumi International Airport was ranked first for the outstanding services offered to Muslim travelers in 2012 under the TOP 10 Halal Friendly Airports Rating, as part of the Crescent Rating’s Halal Friendly Travel Project run by the Concentrating Institute in the category of non-members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). According to the AOT chief, most respondents of the latest survey expressed their satisfaction with the Suvarnabhumi International Airport's Muslim prayer rooms located at both public area and airside with clear signs, as well as several Halal food and drink vendors inside the major Thai airport's terminals. Singapore’s Changi Airport and South Africa’s Tambo Airport were ranked second and third respectively, after Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. (TNA)
