Taiwan Expo 2018 Draws Over 23,000 Visitors

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 (Bernama) – Taiwan Expo 2018 attracted more than 23,000 visitors and generated business opportunities of approximately NT$1.5 billion (US$48.42 million/RM202.25 million). The Bureau of Foreign Trade and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the organisers of the three-day event which ended on Saturday, in a joint statement today said travel and food were among the areas that drew much attention. One thousand copies of Taiwan coupon book at the Taiwan Tourism Pavilion were all snapped up by the morning of the second day of the expo. “As expected, food sampling was a huge hit with visitors and the response to the Taichung World Flora Exposition to be held in November has been overwhelming and beyond expectation,” the statement said. Taiwan Green Products Pavilion which was tailored to the needs of Malaysia’s green industry development also achieved outstanding results. Among the highlights was Queen Yun Green Power Technology Co Ltd which specialises in green building materials, including its energy-saving and heat-insulating tiles which managed to attract enquiries from 17 buyers on the first day alone. Another highlight was Taiwan’s cycling products which drew large crowds and the exhibitor received an order for a sample on the first day itself from a distributor looking to bring it into the New Zealand market. Five seminars and five peripheral events were held in conjunction with the expo, attracting 50 Malaysian e-commerce operators, including influential companies such as MCIL Multimedia Sdn Bhd and popular platform 11 Street to discuss potential future working relationship with Accupass. Taiwan Expo 2018 in Malaysia ended on a high note and TAITRA will continue to work with the Bureau of Foreign Trade next year as Taiwan pushes ahead its New Southbound Policy. There are plans to move into other cities in Indonesia, India, Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia in order to broaden the scope and seek a greater level of cooperation with international partners. -- BERNAMA
