Tajik FM Urges Expansion Of Co-op With Iran

Dushanbe, Feb 26, IRNA – Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi has stressed the need for expansion of friendly cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan. In a meeting with Iranˈs Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ali-Asghar Sherdoost, on Monday, Zarifi referred to Tajik partyˈs debt to an Iranian company over Sangtudeh 2 power plant that is now under construction and said the Tajikistan government will do its best to solve the issue in a month. He also touched on the 11th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Association ministerial meeting in Dushanbe in March and said Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi has been invited to the meeting. Tajik Statistics Committee in a new report announced that Iran stood fifth in terms of economic exchanges with Tajikistan in 2012 after Russia, China, Kazakhstan and Turkey./end
