Technology, innovative businesses have bright prospect in 2016

BANGKOK, January 5 (TNA) - A latest survey by Mahidol University, a leading Thai university, has found that technology-driven and innovations, especially those in the financial and food sectors, will have bright prospect in Thailand in 2016. Kittichai Rajamaha, a lecturer of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme of the College of Management Mahidol University (CMMU), told journalists that the recent survey showed local businesses in which advance technology and innovations are applied to upgrade their products and services should have bright prospect this year. Kittichai noted that the businesses emphasise their marketing via applications on mobile phones, creating easy access for consumers who now mostly rely on their smartphones in their daily activities. Kittichai pointed out that financial technology-driven businesses appear to have the brightest prospect, as they use mobile applications to provide better conveniences for consumers in carrying out their transactions online. Statistics dating back three years showed that the value of financial technology-driven businesses have sharply increased and is showing a clear sign of a frog-leap growth in the future. Kittichai acknowledged that health and medical businesses are also expanding well, as they are vital for human lives and have been supported by the government's policy on promoting Thailand as a regional hub of health services, resulting in the health sector earning the Thai Kingdom up to 107 billion baht in 2014 alone. According to the academic, Thai food businesses also have high potential in term of competitiveness in the ASEAN Community (AC), as the businesses earned the Thai Kingdom over 628 million baht in 2014 alone.
