Tehran to host D-8 petrochemical meeting

TEHRAN,May 13(MNA) – Representatives from five member states of the Developing 8 (D-8) countries will hold a meeting, which will open today in Tehran, to discuss ways to boost cooperation in the field of petrochemicals. The two-day event will host representatives from Iran, Turkey, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Egypt. Establishing a common petrochemical market for the D-8 member states, building petrochemical complexes through joint investment, as well as boosting technical, training, and research cooperation will be among the main topics of the conference. The D-8 is a group of developing countries with large Muslim populations that have formed an economic development alliance. It consists of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey. The objectives of D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation are to improve member states’ position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at international level, and improve standards of living.
