Thai CCI rises for 4th month in November

BANGKOK, Dec 10 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is satisfied after learning that Thailand’s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) in November increased for the fourth consecutive month, from 76.7 in October to 78, marking the highest level in the past 33 months, said a spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office. Spokesman Lieutenant General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the prime minister was happy after being informed of CCI last month, conducted by a survey of the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce. Lt Gen Sansern said the CCI rose in every category on the government-sponsored shopping to help the country and welfare given to the poor programmes. Also, Thailand’s economy and export continued to increase, helping the CCI to rise steadily, said Lt Gen Sansern. He quoted Gen Prayut as saying that the government focuses on developing the country’s economy from the grassroots and stimulate the public to spend until the New Year’s Eve. The prime minister is confident that Thailand’s economy would start recovering from second quarter of 2018, said Lt Gen Sansern. However, the government is still worried and finding ways to boost prices of agricultural products and resolve flooding situation in several provinces, said Lt Gen Sansern. (END)
