Thai Fruit & Orchid Festival 2017 to improve farmers’ livelihoods
NONTHABURI, June 25 (TNA) – The Marketing Organization for Farmers (MOF) held Thai Fruit & Orchid Festival 2017 aimed at improving the livelihoods of local farmers in Thailand.
Teerapat Prayurasiddhi, permanent secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, said the event backed by the Thai government takes place at CentralPlaza Chaengwattana, a shopping mall located in Nonthaburi province, from June 23 to 28.
He said it was part of efforts to expand marketing channels, create business opportunities, and generate more income for farmers, which would benefit the entire agricultural sector in the country.
Also, the event where a range of Thai fruits and flowering plants are put on sale and display will help the farmers with product distribution and promote traditional flowering plants like orchids in both domestic and international markets.
Meanwhile, MOF director Kamolwit Kaewfaek said the event provided farmers with a chance of learning marketing techniques and encouraged them to improve product quality to meet customer needs. (TNA)
