Thai industries moving toward 4.0 era
BANGKOK, March 26 (TNA) - Most Thai industries are developing toward the 4.0 era, with the production of automobile electric and electronic products, as well as service robots expected to achieve the advanced technological period first.
Somwang Boonrakcharoen, President of the Thai-German Institute (TGI), told journalists on Monday that an evaluation survey, recently conducted by TGI experts, found that Thai industries are averagely in the 2.0 era, including the food industry, although the government has already introduced the Thailand 4.0 Policy.
Somwang announced that TGI is, thus, ready to offer its "System Integrator" (SI), in which businesses are provided with consulting services on designs and the development of their automation systems.
Besides, the Internet of Thing (IoT) and the Big Data systems will be added for the development of "smart factories" in which the automation systems are adopted to be then further upgraded toward their 4.0 era eventually.
According to the TGI president, Thailand's electric and electronic industries, as well as auto and service robot industries are foreseen to achieve their 4.0 era first in the coming years.
Meanwhile, the Department of Industrial Promotion under the Thai Ministry of Industry will work together with the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) to provide financial assistance for the SI support for about 1,300 selected industrial firms, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), over the next two years, including those in the Thai government-supported Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Project.
