Thai PM says prices of most goods items cheaper
BANGKOK, May 6 (TNA) - As more people complained of rising living costs, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra reiterated on Sunday that prices of most products were on the downward trends.
Speaking after having received reports from ministers assigned to survey market prices, Miss Yingluck said although product prices were not the same in several areas, most goods prices tended to decline.
Citing reports received from Deputy Transport Minister Pol. Lt. Gen. Chatt Kuldiloke who was assigned to survey vegetable prices in Samut Prakan province, Miss Yingluck said prices were unstable due to the current hot weather, changes in demand and supply, as well as rising oil prices.
On the difference in goods prices between Bangkok and upcountry, she said surveys were being conducted on why commodity prices went up so high while oil prices rose only little.
Surprisingly, Minister of Information and Communication Technology Group Captain Anudith Nakornthap, who was assigned to survey prices at Ying Charoen market on Bangkok outskirts, said prices of chicken, pork, egg and vegetable now varied from last year’s.
Deputy Finance Minister Tanusak Lekuthai said goods prices at Bang Koon Sri market in Thon Buri also varied by seasons. He said prices of morning glory and chicken eggs were cheaper than last year’s while prices of lemon rose due to transportation costs. (TNA)
