Thai-UK Business Leadership Council meeting held in Bangkok

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) -- Delegates and representatives from Thailand and United Kingdom companies attend a Thai-UK Business Leadership Council (TUBLC) meeting, aiming to support and promote trade and investment in both countries. Twelve Thai private sector organizations and their 11 UK counterparts gathered at the TUBLC at a hotel in Bangkok on Thursday. British Ambassador to Thailand Brian Dividson also attended the meeting which began with reviewing the progresses of TUBLC’s joint committees. Tewin Wongwanich, head of Thai delegation, said the two sides sought to promote bilateral trade and investment by ways of eliminating obstacle and exchanging information. Since established in 2016, the TUBLC had facilitated business activities between the two countries’ leading companies, he said. The meeting this year focused on cooperation on technology and innovation, business solutions for aging society and brainstorm on recommendations for a bilateral free trade agreement between Thailand and the UK, he said. Thai Commerce Minister Sonthirat Sontijirawong said the two countries planned to set up a joint working panel to study and prepare of FTA negotiation within this year. Ambassador Davidson commented that the British government gave full support for the TUBLC which would help promote bilateral economic tie. (TNA)
