Thailand imposes anti-dumping measures on steel products from China
BANGKOK, Feb 7 (TNA) -- Thailand imposes anti-dumping measures to safeguard its market instead of slapping duties on steel products from China.
Customs Department and seven steel business associations reached an agreement on anti-dumping following the allegation that China has been flooding steel products in global markets.
Kulit Sombatsiri, Customs Department Director, said at present anti-dumping duties were not necessary but his agency would strictly enforce duty regulations to safeguard Thai steel manufacturers.
To protect their own businesses, many countries have slapped anti-dumping duties on steel products from China, which makes more than half the world's steel.
The measures included closely assessing the situation, preventing tax evasion and enforcing quality standard, Mr Kulit said. (TNA)
