Thailand to open Industry Transformation Center for innovation development

BANGKOK, Feb 26 (TNA) – The Thai Industry Ministry is preparing to open the Industry Transformation Center (ITC) to promote product development and innovations in the country, the ministry's Permanent Secretary Somchai Harnhirun said on Sunday. He said the ITC, which is set to open in March, will help to connect research units with education offices, industrial entrepreneurs, innovators, and startup companies in Thailand. They will work together to develop innovative products. The permanent secretary said the Ministry’s center will be fitted with a range of equipment and facilities that are designed to suit local entrepreneurs. The planned ITC establishment was cited as an achievement of industrial cooperation with Germany. Mr Somchai said officials from the Department of Industrial Promotion, Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, Thai-German Institute, Plastics Institute of Thailand, the National Science and Technology Development Agency recently visited three German research universities and institutes - the Technische Universität Darmstadt, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO. The visit was to learn about effective development of Industry 4.0 and seek cooperation on the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises in Thailand, he noted. (TNA)
