Thailand Pavilion at Expo 2012 in SKorea now nearly complete

BANGKOK, April 11 (TNA) - The construction of the Thailand Pavilion at the venue of the Expo 2012 in Yeosu city of South Korea has already been 95 per cent complete, timely for the opening for Koreans on April 24 and likely to be ranked among the top five pavilions out of 106 pavilions in the international exposition. Boonchob Suthamanaswong, Director-General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, who represents Thailand at the exposition, said that only interior decoration has not yet been finished, assuring that the task will be completely done and the Thailand Pavilion will then be timely opened officially to international visitors on May 12. Boonchob revealed that the Thailand Pavilion will present the diversity of literatures and paintings based on nature, and that there will be a Maiyarap demon robot, the world’s first mermaid robot developed with Japanese technology and panoramic undersea pictures of the Thai waters to promote marine attractions of Thailand. The Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea is set from May 12-August 12, 2012, expecting to attract some eight million visitors totally and the Thailand Pavilion alone, according to the senior Thai official, should attract some 900,000 visitors and be among the top five popular pavilions in the exposition. The Thailand Pavilion was among the seven most popular pavilions in the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai last year. (TNA)
