Thailand promotes special economic zones near border areas

BANGKOK, Feb 28 (TNA) - More than 1,000 enthusiastic businessmen will participate in an ‘Open House’ seminar on Monday in Bangkok, designed for introducing the government-sponsored three potential special economic zones (SEZs). Commerce Ministry officials said the ‘Open House’ seminar will be held at Siam Paragon shopping complex and details on benefit to be offered to participants at the three SEZs in the border provinces of Songkhla, Sa Kaeo and Tak will be briefed. They said the ‘Open House’ seminar will allow the Commerce Ministry to officially announce that Thailand is prepared to be investment hub in the region which would connect to the rest of the world as foreign envoys and representatives of chambers of commerce will also be invited to attend. Foreign envoys and officials of chambers of commerce will later be invited to see with their own eyes the progress being made at SEZ in Sa Kaeo province bordering Cambodia. (TNA)
