Thailand, Russia enhance trade cooperation

BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) – Russia boosts trade ties with Thailand, holding the Russian-Thai business forum at a Bangkok hotel on Wednesday.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alexey Gruzdev opened the forum with the participation of representatives of Thai ministries, agencies and around 100 private companies.
The seminar on Russian Business Mission to Thailand was organized by the International Development of Russian Export Center, the Exim Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
During the forum, investment potentials of Thailand, Siberia and Russia’s Far East were presented. Round tables on transport and logistics; energy; IT and high technologies; medicine and biotechnologies were held.
Anna Belyaeva, director for International Development of Russian Export Center said last year, the center’s support for Thai business sector was worth US$41.8 million or about 1.3 billion baht in total.
It included financial support of about US$ 40 million or about 1.2 billion baht for key industries such as steel and helicopter. The rest US$1.8 million or about 57 million baht was given to market researches, seeking trade partnership and customers, consulting services for the business sector.
The director signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Export and Import Bank of Thailand to pave the way for trade partnership between the two countries. (TNA)
