Thailand welcomes honeymoon couples
BANGKOK, January 14 (TNA) - The state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) invites foreign couples, especially those from China, to visit the Kingdom as their honeymoon destination.
A TAT director in charge of the East Asian market, Thitiporn Maneenetr, has announced that a TAT event themed "the Amazing Thailand Romance Trade Meet 2019, organized last weekend in Bangkok, was part of her office's policy to particularly welcome Chinese couples to spend their honeymoon periods in Thailand.
Thitiporn said that at the event, more than 50 Chinese business operators in the honeymoon and wedding sector and a team of journalists were invited to meet their
Thai counterparts to exchange their experiences and to create their networks.
Thitiporn acknowledged that the event was aimed to, in particular, promote Thailand as a honeymoon destination for Chinese couples who are considered a potential and quality niche market for the Thai tourism.
According to the senior TAT official, there are 10 million newly-wed couples in China on average each year, 80 per cent of whom would like to have their honeymoon periods overseas with about 80,000 baht spent by each couple during their trips.
The TAT director revealed that as part of the event, her office also led the Chinese business operators and journalists to visit Thailand's potential honeymoon destination, including Samui Island in the southern Surat Thani Province and cultural and historic sites in the central Ayutthaya Province.
The senior TAT official estimated that more than 15 million travel-lovers across China should then be acknowledged of Thailand's potential as a honeymoon destination and should plan their trips to the Thai Kingdom in the future, thanks to the event. (TNA)
